Tookee Baby Sleep Sacks

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

I am a huge fan of the sleep sack. Just like snuggly fleece pajamas with feet, the sleep sack is one of those great baby products that you often wish they made in ‘big girl’ sizes too. I guess that is why someone designed the Snuggie….

Tookee™ first caught my eye because of their use of orange details in their products. Yes – orange is far and away my favorite color. I adore these quilted organic sleep sacks that are perfect for all of this chilly weather than most of you are dealing with these days. Tookee™ uses super soft and warm organic fabric and a new double layered quilting of hemp and organic cotton that “allows the little ones’ skin to breath while providing absorbency, superb insulation and year-round comfort.” The fabric is also un-bleached and un-dyed so you can be certain that your precious baby is not going to be swaddled in harmful chemicals. I love the simple graphic element and the detailed trim up top too.

Tookee™ products (they carry super cute toys and stroller blankets too) are all made in California using only environmentally friendly and recycled materials. To top it all off, Tookee™ is a mom owned company – and we love those! Let’s all wish Hadas a lot of success with her growing business.

iomoi Gift Tags

I am the worst person when it comes to gift wrapping. I am always a little ashamed because I love a well wrapped gift. You can give the smallest little thing and if you wrap it with gorgeous paper and a perfect bow – it will make it so much more special. I know a lot of people are trying to be a little more green when it comes to gift wrapping this year. I am the first to admit that I always reuse gift bags if they are still in good condition. One idea I might do this year is wrap gifts with newspaper or brown paper bags and then use a colorful bow and these fabulous gift tags from iomoi. Iomoi has such a funky selection of gift tags, like they do of just about everything else, I am sure you will find a few you’ll love too.

Tooth Fairy Pillow

Monday, November 8th, 2010

The other day my friend mentioned that her son had lost his first tooth and she wanted to start a special family tradition for the tooth fairy to come along at night to take the tooth and bring her son a little treat. What she needed was a special place for her son to put his tooth. Her story made me remember how much I believed in and loved the magical tooth fairy as a little girl.

This adorable tooth fairy pillow from Petite Miette comes in 8 different colors and is made from 100% organic cotton. “La Bonne Petite Souris” is French for “The Good Little Mouse” and is also the title of an old French fairy tale that is believed by some to be the origin of the tooth fairy story. This is a great $20 gift item to have on hand for little boys and girls.  From blankets and bibs to escargot, Petite Miette has many other delightful products to choose from – all of which are made from sustainable, natural materials that are good for your baby and the planet.

With my Louis Vuitton Neverfull packed to the brim with weekend essentials, I was ready for a weekend of ‘glamping’ with my boys and 10 other families. I will be honest – I don’t enjoy camping. It is not fun, nor is it relaxing. I do love being outside in beautiful places and being away from home and endless to-do lists.  I fully embrace this trend towards fancy, glamorous camping (now known as ‘glamping’) and a great place to do it is Costanoa, in Northern California. I had told a few girlfriends about the place and before I knew it 10 Silicon Valley families had found a weekend to embark on a fun filled getaway.

I opted for the log cabin that comes with a fireplace, deck (great view and swing), stereo, refrigerator and fluffy spa robes. Never once did I hear my husband complain wishing that he was pitching a tent. The surroundings are gorgeous and the weather was perfect. We had an amazing day at the beach (it’s a long but pretty walk – I just kept my fingers crossed my son wouldn’t ask me to carry him), we roasted marshmallows, we lounged in the jacuzzi, we sat in the grass and watched with wind blow the leaves in the trees and just enjoyed a few days with no cell connection and no TV (they do have WiFi). Yes they also have a spa, a delicious restaurant and lots of activities too. If you like to camp, you can also pitch a tent and barbeque. Something for everyone.

This is the first time we’ve traveled with more than one other family and it was great. Because the place is so spread out, we all had a little alone time and we all kind of moved to our own schedules. Everyone brought yummy food, wine and cupcakes to share. The kids loved the dirt, the sticks, the sand, the rocks and the millions of stars that filled the night sky. A good time all around.

Some of the moms were talking as we were packing up and we thought this was the perfect spot for a girls getaway – a few days of yoga, wine, good food, great friends and a little peace and quite. Sounds perfect.

russell+hazel paper

I want to send a huge thank you to Maria Shriver and The Women’s Conference team for a wonderful planning luncheon earlier this week. It is going to be an amazing event this year. As a little gift, all the guests received these fabulous russell+hazel note pads. I love love love my new note pads!  Each is a very practical size, and best of all, they have gold tipped edges. Their products are very stylish and wonderful quality. In the spirit of Earth Day, you should know that their products are also completely biodegradable – even the metal and boards used in their binders. Pretty cool! They’ve also got a lot of great products to help you get organized.

Safe (and Green!) Sippy Cups

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Kid Basix has a wonderful line of eco-friendly solutions to forever replace plastic bottles and sippy cups.  I am so impressed on how far the baby industry has come in the last few years since my son was born.  If you need any more convincing here is a little except from their website as to why stainless steel is a good option: “We can give you 300 billion reasons. That’s the approximate number of plastic water bottles discarded around the world every year. Enough to power 12 million cars for an entire year. And that’s just the water bottles! It doesn’t include all the plastic bottles used for sodas, sports drinks, fruit juices and the like. All told, the plastic bottles we throw away each year would reach to the moon and back – 1500 times. So using reusable stainless steel bottles makes sense on every level: personal, local and global.”

I have to admit one of my favorite back-to-school activities was always shopping for a new lunch box.  In junior high I think I finally brown bagged it – probably because I couldn’t find a Stray Cats lunchbox… It scare me to think of how many little baggies my mom must have used for us over the years…

Anyhow, are you in the market for an eco-friendly and easy way to pack healthy lunches for your kids? PlanetBox is the safe, non-toxic alternative to plastic. Not your old fashioned metal lunch box, PlanetBox delivers lunch transportation for the green generation. Kids can customize their lunchbox with cool magnets too. If you’ve got food on your mind, you can also check out more meal time dishware and other options for your little ones, foodie blogs & websites, family cookbooks, organic baby food, and chocolate galore…
