noodle-and-boo-gift-baby-starter

My friends just introduced me to Noodle & Boo this weekend and I used some of their skin care products for the first time yesterday. So so so wonderful!!  My friend Lee Ann told me I would be hooked and boy she was right. What makes me extra happy about Noodle & Boo is that the company behind the product is just as cool and fabulous as the products themselves. First of all, Noodle & Boo was started by a mom, and I love to support other mom owned business. And then I learned that she donates the majority of the profits of the company to children’s charities. You can feel great about every purchase.

The Noodle & Boo line consists of personal skin care products for newborns, babies, children and pregnant women – everything is safe and gentle for sensitive skin. You can purchase the products online or at your local Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstom and other fine retailers. The packaging is so cute that I think the products make a wonderful baby shower gift too.

Safe Motherhood

Mother-Earth-by-Ryan-Paul-Simmons

I was flipping through Bazaar magazine tonight and read a wonderful article about the work that Christy Turlington Burns and others are doing to bring attention to, and improve, maternal health all over the world. Her documentary, No Woman, No Cry, will air on OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network in May. If I have my statistics correct one woman dies approximately every 4 minutes during childbirth somewhere in the world. There is so much to learn and so much we can all do to help. Here are some of the organizations highlighted in the article that are worth checking out: The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, Every Mother Counts, and LifeWrap.org. Also go on over to charitybuzz and bid on this one of a kind painting (the one featured here), Mother Earth by Ryan Paul Simmons or one of these gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous gowns by Vera Wang, Catherine Malandrino, Marchesa, Donna Karan New York, and Diane von Furstenberg. The auctions close on January 31st so go place your bid now!

Holiday Photo Cards

tis-the-season-pear-tree-greetings

The year my son was born I combined our birth announcement with our holiday card. When you have just had a baby, there is no way you are going to (nor should you!) muster the energy to do both. Your new baby is the best present you could ever get so use this as the perfect opportunity to share your joy with friends all over the world.  This card first caught my eye because of the angelic baby in the photo. (Who doesn’t love a sleeping baby!) I also adore this Strawberry Sensation Photo Holiday Card from Pear Tree Greetings because of the incredibly cheery pink and red color combination and simple yet striking polka dots. All around cute. Free Shipping at Pear Tree Greetings. Enter 16737 at checkout. Expires 12-31-10. Min $65.

I hope you are having fun picking out your own holiday cards this year. Here are a few more cards worth a look…..

Mountain Mama

I was thrilled to stumble upon Mountain Mama last month at The Women’s Conference. When I saw their selection of outdoor wear I immediately thought, “I wish I had these when I was pregnant!” The products were that perfect combination of being highly functional and great looking. Their exclusive Bellyglove™ fit “eliminates up-drafts, unflattering draping, and peek-a-boo bellies.” Add to that some gorgeous colors and super soft fabrics – what else could you want in great clothes? Even though their products were originally created for women who are outdoorsy and super active (two characteristics I would not use to describe myself by the way) – I think they are actually great for any mom-to-be. After falling in love with their fall collection, I then found out that the company’s founder Teresa Delfín is a fellow Stanford alum and we were both featured in the same article in the December issue of Success magazine. How cool is that? I want to wish Teresa and her team great success.

Rent Maternity Clothes

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

A quick update to the new pregnancy & maternity page… I’ve just added a list of companies where you can rent fabulous designer maternity clothes – you will see them listed right under the other links to maternity clothes. I think it is such a fabulous idea. I know I was so miserable getting invited to a wedding when I was 7 months pregnant and not knowing what I was going to wear and not wanting to spend a lot of money on something I literally would wear only once. This adorable Olian Maternity dress is from RentMaternityWear.com. With all the money you save on a dress you’ll be able to treat yourself to a super cute new pair of shoes
