Bachelor Jake – The Finale

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I actually find the time to “read” US Magazine cover to cover every week so obviously I wasn’t jumping for joy with Jake’s final choice. I have to remind myself every now and then that it is just a TV show and that the producers need to create characters and they always do a very good job at it. The biggest surprise for me was that they picked Jake for Dancing with the Stars and not Tenley. I don’t think I am the only one out there that wanted the good girl to win at the end. Of course I will watch Molly and Jason’s wedding next week and can’t wait for the Bachelorette in just a few months. At least I will have my Monday nights back for awhile.

Bachelor Jake – Episode 6

I have to admit I gained a little respect for Ali for saying goodbye to Jake.  Don’t get me wrong – I like Jake and all, I just didn’t expect Ali to choose her career over air time and finding her dream man.  I have to give her kudos for her rational decision making skills. I was kind of hoping he would have still gotten rid of the girl who wasn’t going to get the rose tonight. Maybe that would have been too many tears for one night. I am just happy there is an end in sight so I can get my Monday nights back…

Of course I loved last night’s episode because it was filmed in San Francisco and I lived there for many years. Every girl I know has walked by that same flower stand.  I was actually there on Sunday! I am totally on Team Tenley. I like the fact she is not in the middle of the drama. I have to laugh (or roll my eyes) when the girls thank Jake for the chest full of new clothes, the creative dates, etc. Don’t they remember that they are on a TV show? Producers plan the dates – Jake didn’t pick the castle.  Companies donate clothes – poor Jake has nothing to do with it. Maybe the girls are caught up in the moment….

Last week’s episode was a total downer – I really had nothing to say about it except that nobody looked like they were having any fun. Tonight’s episode was so much better.  I am totally biased because I love the Madonna Inn, I love Big Sur and I live 1 mile from Villa Montalvo where they filmed the rose ceremony. Yeah of my little town of Saratoga! Kudos to the location scouts.  I also like the fact that he just gets rid of girls instead of stringing them along – not that I agree with all of his choices…

I really don’t understand all of the crying… Shouldn’t the girls be happy that that woman is gone – one less girl to ‘compete’ with? Anyhow, Ali (the one he went on the one on one date with) seems very nice and normal. My mom even called during the show to leave a message about how much she liked her too. I just hope that our squeaky clean bachelor does not turn out to be like a very famous golfer we know…

Do you remember Bachelor Bob from way back in 2003 when Trista was the bachelorette?  I had my 17 seconds of fame during ‘The Bachelorette – The Men Tell All’ (my friend got tickets for a bunch of us to go to the taping for my actual bachelorette party).  I had my big close up and said “We love you Bob, you’re our favorite bachelor,” and then proceeded to ask him some question that I don’t remember.  I do remember the cheers from all of the girls in the crowd when I professed our group love for him and of course his great sense of humor.  I also remember how many people came up to me at the office the next day telling me they saw me on TV (of course it was the people you would least expect to be watching the show or admitting they watched it). Though I told about 20 million people I loved Bob – I  got married a week later to someone else. Of course I watched The Bachelor tonight with Bachelor Jake and am very excited for the season ahead. My one guilty pleasure…
