Peapod Helps Feed the Hungry

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

I think the grocery delivery services are one of the best inventions for busy moms. We all know what a exhausting experience it is to go to the store with children. I know this and I only have one kid! I look over in amazement at the parents with 2 or 3 children in their shopping carts. I order as much as I can online. I have never tried Peapod but I just found out about their feed the hungry promotion on Twitter and I thought it was a cool way to give back. If you refer someone to Peapod, they get $10, you get $10, they will donate $10 to a food bank. Everyone wins. In case Peapod does not deliver in your area, I have a full list of grocery delivery services and vegetable delivery services.

Toy Story 3

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

You certainly don’t need me to tell you how wonderful all of the Toy Story movies are. My son loves going to the dump so he was particularly fond of Toy Story 3. I took him a few weeks ago and it was really fun to see him sit through an entire full length movie at a movie theatre and be completely mesmerized the whole time. On behalf of my little guy – thank you Pixar and Disney for a wonderful summer treat. I already know that Woody and Buzz will be on the list for Santa….

Bensimon Sneakers

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

I am getting a little obsessed about these simple Bensimon sneakers, and I think I just might need them in this great shade of purple. They just seem so perfect for summer. I saw them a few months ago when I was in Florida and I just can’t get them out of my mind. I guess that means it is okay for me to buy them now. I was just reading online that they were made famous by Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot back in the day – who knew?!

Stanford Alumni Pick of the Week

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

I was super excited to find out that Sweet Peas & Stilettos was selected as a Stanford Alumni pick of the week. Considering that Stanford alumni have started so many amazing companies – it is a huge thrill.

Warby Parker Eyewear

Friday, July 9th, 2010

For all of you moms or moms-to-be out there who wear glasses, I have to warn you…the only thing more common than the dreaded death grip on your gold hoop earrings (what did your poor earlobes do to deserve such horrible treatment) is the quick grab and toss of your glasses.  They will be on your face one minute and on the floor the next, and they will be covered with baby food. This will happen to you every day. Believe me, if you are going to be around a small child, you need to buy an extra pair or two of glasses.

I must admit I was a little excited when I found out I needed glasses my first year of business school. I loved picking out my first pair of frames and found it so difficult to pick just one pair. Your favorite earrings are on the side of your head partially covered by your flowing locks but your glasses are smack dab in the middle of your face. They are your most important accessory!

That gets me to Warby Parker. My husband and I will both be buying our next pair of glasses from their website. There is so much to love about Warby Parker I am not sure where to start. First of all, the frames are all vintage inspired and the designs are super stylish and they come in a wide selection of colors. Then there is the fact that they are only $95! Yes – less than $100 a pair – totally unbelievable.  If that weren’t enough to convince you, they donate a pair of glasses to a person in need for every pair they sell (similar to the wildly successful TOMS shoes model).  I have a little feeling that this is going to be a wildly successful company. Go check them out today at

Old Navy Scarves as a Tablecloth

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Lat night I told you about my cute new scarves that I just bought at Old Navy – here is one of them as a tablecloth. Love it!

Old Navy Scarves

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Happy 4th of July!  Rather than enjoying barbeque and cold beer, I spent my 4th getting a pedicure with my great friend Leslie, running errands and gardening. I found these adorable scarves at Old Navy. Of course I had to by two, one in pink and the other in orange. I tried one over a side table and it is going to make a great table cloth too. The pom-poms are spectacular!  When you shop at Old Navy over this long weekend you can also buy items to be sent to the troops (at least they had this program at my local Old Navy and I assume it is everywhere). I of course elected to support the ‘flip flops for the troops’ promotion – how could I not support sending adorable summer sandals to the soldiers. You can enjoy their Star Spangled Sale through the 5th at

My Kate Spade Flats

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

I am a 100% bona fide Kate Spade junkie. Always have been, always will be. Here are some of my frequently worn Kate Spade flats. I can’t tell you how many times I visited the Kate Spade store at The Stanford Shopping Center when I was trying to get pregnant with my son. I would drown my sorrows (there were quite a few!) and celebrate the good news (there is a baby in there!) – always with a new pair of shoes or handbag. Kate Spade continues to bring a sense of humor and great style to each and every item in their expanding collection. I am always looking for another reason to go back. Maybe it is time to celebrate this fabulous, sunny long weekend by adding to my collection….

I am sure I am not the only one who has used a trip to the mall to cure the blues or to mend a broken heart.  For lots of my shoe shopping tales, check out Sole Searching.
