My new obsession….Shwings! How cool are these little wings that you can add to your shoes? I actually bought these gold ones for myself and as soon as my son saw them he insisted that we put them on his shoes instead. Considering he shares a name with an Olympic gold medalist who was once the fastest man alive, it is probably appropriate that he has wings on his shoes.

Shwings are available in a whole array of colors for both lace up shoes and the ‘slot’ style for velcro shoes. They look just as cool on boots as they do on sneakers. Great for gifts and stocking stuffers too! You can order them directly from the Shwings website, Amazon, or check for local retailers.

Sole Society

Monday, June 18th, 2012

I had seen a number of advertisements for Sole Society and was always a little curious to give it a try for myself. As much as I love fabulous designer shoes there are many times when I just want super cute, colorful, funky shoes and I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars for them. So I did a little shopping recently on Sole Society and I must admit I love it!

Pictured above are my sky high Brianna’s. I have always loved the contrast of pink and orange together and these shoes have the perfect tones of each. They are so awesome that I actually keep them right on my desk near my monitor so I can look at them every day. Sounds corny, but it is true.

I also love these navy shoes I bought as well. They are incredibly comfortable and look great with jeans. Overall I have been very impressed with the quality of the shoes at Sole Society, especially considering how inexpensive they are. Most of the shoes are only $49! Everyday they release a new shoe so there is always something new. From flats to wedges to sky high stilettos, boots and more – you will find a great selection of trendy, fun and fabulous shoes.

And I just wanted to let you know that I did need to return one pair and the customer service was excellent. I received store credit right away and was able to get a new pair of shoes ordered quickly. It was all very easy – no questions asked. And in case you were wondering, the only reason I returned them was that I realized I had another pair of shoes that was almost identical to the ones I ordered. No wonder I liked them so much!

So go ahead and sign up for Sole Society today and give it a try. I think you’ll be hooked – just like me….

The RealReal

silver prada shoes

Love love love love my gorgeous silver silk Prada shoes that I recently purchased from The RealReal. One of the very few emails I look forward to receiving is from The RealReal to see what fabulous items they have found. It is like stepping into a very high end consignment store and the prices on the designer clothes and accessories are amazing. When I first learned that they got many of the items from celebrities and stylists I immediately thought it was going to be all size zero and I would never be able to buy anything, but I have to tell you, they constantly have a huge range of items from size 0 – 14. Of course I usually focus on the accessories and have never ever been disappointed with their selection. A told a few of my friends about the site and they are totally addicted. It is so fun to see all of the gorgeous Jimmy Choo shoes, Versace tops and YSL bags they have purchased at such great prices.

A lot of fashion deal sites use the term “designer” very loosely these days. At The RealReal we are talking about Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Valentino. This is where you will find the good stuff. And their customer service is great too. I had to return one jacket that was a little tight for me in the shoulders and it was quick and easy to get my refund.

If you love CHANEL – you must sign up – you won’t be disappointed – I promise… I won’t even tell you how little I paid for this Chanel tuxedo jacket…

Here are a few other places to shop online for great deals on designer clothes and accessories. Happy Saving!

DSW Success

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

Recently it seems that everywhere I go and see someone wearing an adorable pair of shoes I find out that they bought them at DSW. First it was the hostess at Valeriano’s and her sparkly zebra flats and then it was the mom at the birthday party with the cool black boots. I used to work very close to a DSW and it was a wonderful place to go for lunch or to avoid rush hour traffic. I would start at one end and methodically walk up and down every single aisle. I can’t believe I haven’t been there in so long. Needless to say – I snuck away for a bit this weekend to see what I could find. It was such a treat to be able to go shopping all by myself!

So I fell in love with these Tahari Carly cap toe leather ballet flats. You know that saying, “when the shoe fits, buy it in every color” well that is me. I immediately put all three pairs in my bag. How could I pick just one! It was so hard but eventually I decided to be good and just bought the black and silver ones. I gave myself a gold medal for not being totally indulgent. Yeah!

Unfortunately, I think I might need to go back this week and get those orange and gold ones. Orange is my favorite color and I can’t stop thinking about them. And spring and summer will be here soon – perhaps I should just get the nude and gold ones too….

Converse Giveaway – FREE SHOES

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

The very first pair of shoes I ever bought my son was a pair of black Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars. He couldn’t even walk! To be completely honest here, he wasn’t even born yet, but these shoes were so precious, I had to have them. I have 2 pairs of iconic Converse Chuck Taylor low tops on my shoe rack too – basic black and my bright kelly green ones. There are some things that simply never go out of style.

Needless to say, when Converse & Sears approached me about promotional opportunities on Sweet Peas & Stilettos – I knew it was a perfect fit. Converse & Sears are giving away FREE SHOES to one lucky Sweet Peas & Stilettos reader… read on to find out more.

I have spent the last week checking out all of the latest Converse shoes and I have to tell you how thrilled I was to find that they have an amazing assortment of shoes for the entire family in such a wide range of styles. They have taken their best selling vintage sneaker and found so many modern twists on a long-standing favorite. Here are some of my top picks:

I am going to kick off my list with these totally adorable Converse Check Taylor All Star slip-ons for the little angels in your house. Your daughter will be smitten by the pretty pink colors and the funky double tongue. The colorful, chic diamond print will bring a joyful pop to every outfit.

Converse Boy's Chuck Taylor All Star Street Cab - Brown

My 5 year old son has recently started taking skateboarding lessons which he loves loves loves! I think these canvas sneakers will be perfect for him. Wearing these Converse Street Cab with a vintage t-shirt and his little Levis, I know he will look super cool next time he ‘rocks a fakey’ or drops in on the half pipe.

Converse Women's Athletic Shoe Chuck Taylor Beverly Boot - Tan

I don’t know about you but for some reason I have had a hard time finding the perfect indoor/outdoor rainy day boots. I prefer boots that aren’t too bulky that will still keep my toes warm.  I also want the flexibility of being to tuck my skinny jeans or leggings into them, or wear them under my favorite cords or boot cut jeans. Through snow and rain and icy cold days – these faux fur lined Converse Beverly boots might just do the trick.

Converse Men's Athletic Shoe Chuck Taylor All Star Outsider Boot - Brown

I showed my husband these cool Converse Outside boots and he immediately said, “You can buy me a pair of those. Remember, I wear a 12.” Enough said there… I know they will look great with jeans and since that is what he wears every day, they’ll be a wonderful addition to his winter wardrobe.

Scotch Shoe Dispenser with Magic Tape
When you have a website called Sweet Peas & Stilettos and you’ve written a collection of short stories about shopping for shoes, and to top it off you have a whole wall in your bedroom full of colorful shoes, it is easy to understand why people like to buy you everything and anything that has a shoe on it. When Christmas rolls around, I know there will be more than one pair of shoes in my stocking…

This year, my mother bought me this crazy stiletto shoe tape dispenser and yes, I actually loaded it up and put it on my desk. I have no idea why I like this silly tape dispenser so much. It just kind of cracks me up….

Glitter Heels

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

If you have been around Sweet Peas & Stilettos long enough, or taken a look at my shoe rack, you probably know about my love affair with all things Kate Spade. I also love things that sparkle. Put a lot of glitter on an incredible shoe and you have perfection in my book.

I have wanted my very own pair of Kate Spade Charm heels for a long long time but could never decide between the silver, gold and multi-colored versions. My instincts said, “buy all three of course!” but my practical (and totally non-indulgent) self got the best of me and said to pick just one. So here they are. I was having a bad week when I bought them and I can’t tell you how quickly I perked up with them arrived at my front gate. I actually keep them on my desk so I can stare at them all day long. Needless to say, I know what shoes I will be wearing to each and every holiday party this year…

Jelly The Pug

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

I am sure I am not the only mom of a little boy who loves clothes and shopping who frequently gets asked the question, “Don’t you want to try for a girl so you can buy all of those cute clothes?” I politely reply that I am very happy having one son and I have found many ways to splurge on cute clothes and accessories that do not require me to give birth.

Very rarely do I come across a slew of little girl dresses that I secretly wish I had an excuse to buy. When I first stumbled across JellyThePug I was immediately smitten. I just love the bold contrasting color combinations and the eclectic mix of prints. Top it off with great designs and prices – what’s not to love. So if you have a little girl at home….start shopping. And if you are a mom to boys – you can still enjoy the happy colors and prints too…go take a peek…and think of all the money you get to save.
