Donate Baby Items. Many of us have bought or been given virtually every type of sling, walker, stroller, and swing we could get our hands on. You will soon find that many baby items you have around your home could easily be handed down to another family.

Baby Buggy

Baby Buggy is an organization in New York that works with a number of social service agencies to collect and distribute clothing and gear for the infants and young children of low-income women. This is a truly inspiring organization.

Donate Your Baby Gear & Baby Clothes

I encourage moms everywhere to pass on every baby item you have (that is still in good condition) to another mom. It is good for the environment and even better for your community.

You can always contact your local church, homeless shelter or hospital as they may also be aware of local organizations where you can also donate your baby gear and help families in your own community.

Please email me if you know of any other resources that help in the collection and distribution of baby gear to families in need. I would love to continue to add to this list.

Baby2Baby supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential baby gear and clothing for their children 0-4 years old. They distribute new and gently used items through a network of community based organizations.

Cradles to Crayons

Founded in 2002, Cradles to Crayons strives to provide children up to age 12 living in homeless and low-income situations with the essentials they need to feel safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued. They currently support the greater Boston and Philadelphia areas.

Hand Me Downs is a website where parents can buy, sell, swap, or even give away for free their gently used children and baby goods.

Tips & Suggestions When You Donate Your New or Gently Used Baby Items, Baby Clothes & Baby Gear

You have a some new or gently used baby gear at home and you are ready to donate it to a family in need. Fantastic! Here are a few suggestions and tips to consider before you drop off your baby gear at a donation location.

1) Please wash your items to ensure they are clean. That is easy to do with clothes, but you can also wipe down toys and equipment too.

2) In support of the safety of the children who receive your items, please be sure that the items you donate are in perfect working order. Do not donate damaged or broken items.

3) Do not donate items that have been recalled. You can consult the Consumer Product Safety Commission at to see if your item is listed.

4) If your items contain instruction manuals, include them.
